Yesteryear Collection

Before the famous name of Matchbox came into being, the founders of the company, Lesney and Rodney Smith, combined three letters of each of their Christian names to form the company of Lesney Products & Company Limited, on 19th January, 1947.

The company's first premises were in a formerly disused public house known as the Rifleman in Union Row, N.17. The firm initially made industrial castings but turned to toys the following year.

This Morris Pantechnicon van was produced to celebrate fifty years of Lesney Products and is a limited edition of 3,000 pieces.
